What makes my house a home for me?

This question puzzled me. I live in the dorm almost all the time, but during the holidays and sometimes on weekends I come to my parents in my hometown. I’ve got used to my new room in Nijniy Novogorod and I call it home when I stay there for a long time. But when I come back to my family I feel like I’ve slept a lot and missed a few month, but I always was here. This is my home. I have so many things that remind me of my childhood and school. I collected them for years. Pictures with my friends attached to the desk, favorite books, diplomas from the local art school, brother’s toys… Just the order of things in the apartnment that I’m used to.

And the special smell of home that is different in any other house. You are not able to feel it sometimes, but your guests are. I smell it when I come home after a jorney or just a sleepover at my friend’s house. It makes me feel like I’m in the right place, it calms me down and helps to get back to normal if I’m worried.

In general, the habit to a speacial place makes it home for me. And, of course, the people who make me feel loved: my family (and my cat Tikhon). I miss them a lot when I’m far away, they are my home.
